Judy Ann rejects role as Aguinaldo's wife

pinoy movies - filipino news Judy Ann Santos doesn’t want people to think there’s something more than meets the eye in her rejection of the role of Hilaria Aguinaldo, Emilio Aguinaldo’s first wife in ER Ejercito’s production of “El Presidente, the Emilio Aguinaldo Story.”

It’s just that she can’t relate to her character since Judy Ann would rather play someone she can observe and see in the flesh.

“Malaking proyekto ito. Malaking pelikula ito. Pero bilang artista, naniniwala ako na dapat may pinagbabasehan ang karakter ko. Kasi hindi na naman siya buhay,” she said at the presscon sponsored by Kraft for Eden Cheese, which Judy Ann and daughter Yohan are endorsing.

Judy Ann admits she can’t relate to the character because she doesn’t know Hilaria personally. And because of this, she might not do justice to the role.

“Ayokong mapulaan ang trabaho ko. Ayokong mapulaan ang craft ko kasi mahal ko ang trabaho ko.”

How to tame your inner beauty critic

pinoy movies - filipino news When you wake up in the morning, do you flinch at the face that stares back at you in the mirror? When you're out, are you constantly sizing yourself up against everyone you meet? When people compliment you on your looks, are you instantly suspicious or doubtful? If you're guilty of self-sabotage, stop right now!
Say it: I am beautiful.
According to a study commissioned by Dove, only 4% of women in the world find themselves beautiful, and only half that number (a dismal 2%!) were comfortable describing themselves as beautiful. Are you part of the majority? If you think you don't measure up to society's beauty standards, your self-image may be in dire need of resuscitation.
It's interesting to note that in the same Dove study, more than half of women (54%) agree that when it comes to beauty, they are their own worst beauty critic. That's representative of 672 million women worldwide—an astounding number of women that hold back from celebrating their beauty and fulfilling their full beauty potential!

1. You’re already got an iPad 2
Apple has the largest market share in this category, so a lot of you are probably reading this on your iPad or iPad 2. Take a trip on the MRT and you’ll see more iPad 2’s than any other tablet.
If you’ve already got an iPad 2, there’s really not much more to the new iPad that’s a must-have, perhaps other than the higher-res screen and LTE connectivity (more on those later).

Recto to BIR: Why chase Pacquiao?

pinoy movies - filipino news Boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao only evades the punches of his opponents on the ring and not his taxes, a senator said Thursday.

Senator Ralph Recto backed Pacquiao, who is now the subject of a tax probe by the Bureau of Internal Revenue for alleged discrepancies in his income tax returns, particularly in 2010.

Recto said Pacquiao’s earnings from his fights abroad should no longer be taxable since he has already paid for it with the Internal Revenue Service in the United States. That would be double taxation, he said.

The spotlight's on Jose Manalo

pinoy movies - filipino news Jose Manalo, the premiere sidekick any top comedian-TV host would watch out for, has indeed gotten out of his shell.
Years of waiting under the wings of one gigantic television institution paid off for this comedian, who was once on the losing end of gags and is actually orchestrating them now. Jose emerged from the shadows and now dictates what he wants in his career.
That is, even taking the stage at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for a concert. Well, not by his lonesome, though. He had to tag fellow "Eat Bulaga" mainstay Wally Bayola along. It's not that Wally deserved to share the stage less. Actually, it seemed one could not fill the Araneta to the rafters without the other.
They seemed inseparable.
But for the millions who've witnessed Jose grow as a comedian, it was so evident that he was the natural. He could really make the most out of an awkward or even tense situation to make it actually funny and memorable.
Two videos uploaded recently on YouTube clearly became his highlight reels. The first shows Jose in the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of "Eat Bulaga" saving the day for an awkward live moment wherein the day's big winner mentioned Willie Revillame's show instead of theirs. Here, Jose seized the day.
