Look who's staying in PH 'for good'

pinoy movies - filipino news After staying in the US for nine years to get her college degree and raise a family, G Tongi is back in the Philippines for good with husband Tim Walters and their children, Sakura and Kenobe.

G made a comeback this year via TV5’s “Nandito Ako.” Now, she is part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming series, “Aryana.”

“I am (here for good) and I’m with my family. Me and my husband are doing very well. Marami kasi ang nagtatanong kung kumusta na kami. May isyu kasi na hiwalay na daw kami, but no,” G said at the press conference of “Aryana” in Sulo Hotel on Tuesday, May 1.

G revealed that it was her husband who urged her to return to the Philippines. She added that he is working as a bar business consultant in the country.

“Yung husband ko talaga, he was the one who really decided na it’s time to go home. He is working here already. He has a bar consulting business and he’s very busy doing his own thing,” she said.

G said that the Philippines will always be her home.

“Nandito rin yung mommy ko. So, siyempre nakakasama ng mga anak ko at importante din sa akin yun. But let’s face it, home is home. And this has always been home,” she said.

G plays the oppressive Stella Cervantes in “Aryana.” It’s her first villain role.

“I’ve been very picky of my roles for the past couple of years. Meron ka rin kasing responsibilidad sa public na bigyan sila ng mga karakter na makakarelate sila,” G said.

Although some people expected her to appear in Hollywood films, G chose to turn producer-director instead. She is proud of the documentary series “Basco Balikbayan Project” which she herself produced and directed. It features Fil-Am Hollywood actor Dante Basco.

“I just finished producing a documentary (Basco Balikbayan Project) I produced myself. So, siguro iniisip nila on camera. But that was never my goal. My goal is to become a writer, to become a producer, to direct and I was able to do all of that,” she said.

She adds that her long-term goal is to produce interesting, inspiring materials.

“I’m very thankful people still give me the opportunity to act. Pero hindi iyon ang long-term goal ko. Ang long-term goal ko talaga is to be able to create content na nakaka-inspire at kakaiba,” G goes on.

Meanwhile, she clarified that she never meant to offend press people who thought she was being sarcastic when she asked if they know about University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, where she finished college) during the press conference for “Nandito Ako.”

G explained she didn’t know her words offended some members of the entertainment press who were present at the TV5 event.

“Siguro kung meron mang nao-offend, I promise I don’t intend to,” G says.

“Being sarcastic is only how you take it. When somebody asks me a question and I answer it, if they think it's sarcastic, it’s not because I’m trying to be, it’s because I’m just voicing my own opinion.”

“Aryana” premieres on May 7 in ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
